I found the IFPL and was rather surprised to find about 30 furries registered there within 5 miles or so of my zip code... and about 60 within a 50 mile radius...  It was pretty exciting... until...

I sent a few e-mails to some of the local furs, just by way of introduction, and whatnot.  It's now been, approximately, three weeks, and I've not received a single reply to any of my 15 e-mails  Sigh

So, I donno, seems that, as promising as it may have appeared that there was a developed furry community here (Baton Rouge, La), I'm still no closer to meeting any local furs than I was 3 months ago.

Not a big deal, though.  The KitsuNet community is friendly enough for me, and I've got plenty of furry friends online, so I'm happy.  Happy

I've only met one boy that liked plushies. He really wasn't into much yiffy fantasy.  Sigh

I'm  very curious, but also nervous about meeting people.  Real Happy

hey Dragan! Nice to see new faces and all  Smile

How about you pay a visit to the Welcome board and place some info about yourself there? Would be nifty and all.

Yeah, not really into plushies myself. In fact the only thing I am really into are stories. LOVE stories! And the occassional party. Those are fun too.

Meeting furs for the first time is probably the hardest step (IRL that is), however usually those moments are suprisingly pleasant. Especially in SoCal, so long as you meet up with the right peeps.

Good hunting!

Yeah, Arrowheard, so I've heard.

I've quite a few furry frriends from L.A., and they all swear that there's a reason it's called Cali-fur-nia.  From what I've seen... I believe it.  Happy

However, Louisiana is nothing like California, unfortunately.  Sigh  Apparently, our furry community is so underground that none of its members even reply to email from the IFPL  Mad  Oh well, law school's only going to take me another year and a half, after which I can relocate.  Real Happy  It's just too bad that no law school in California accepts matriculating transfer students (as far as I know).

Fuzzy nuzzles to all!

Oh yeah, California is like the central hub to everything furry.  Sweat

Sorry to hear about you Louisiana folk. Must suck that nobody wants to come out of the furry closet  Cry

There has to be a lawschool that accepts marticulating students here. Just keep searching. Hell, I'll see what info I can pull up from my end. I gotta go see a counselor soon anyway.

None that I know of anywhere near me. Though I have a friend who apparently thinks furries are cool, b/c he use to go on and on about this one person named Jax the Bat who he met on deviantart. Also when I was young, like 8-10, a couple of friends and I use to play games where we were anthropomorphic animal characters and we would run around with toy guns and do all kinds of stupid stuff. But of course the friends who played this game with me were not furries.

Oh my, I think I know the guy. Meaning, Jax. Not Your friend ;) Or, at least I've seen some fanart of him. Looked quite good, too Happy

[on topic] I actually managed to make some people around me interested in furres. Yay for me! ^___^ tho it's more about rp than about art or stories or suits or whatever. Oh well, at least something ^^

Thats how it was with my friends and I when I was a kid. It was more of an RP, b/c I didn't even know furries existed. We had several different characters (I probably had about 20 XD ).

Well, I think it was when I was about 8-11. For some reason I use to buy toy guns all of the time when I was a kid, and my friends and I would all run around throughout the different yards making "bases" and stuff. Except instead of just like regular human soldiers or whatever, we were usually animals o_0;

Not saying RPing is for kids, I just can't think of a better word for what we use to do, since it did involve characters with names and personalities and such.

Lesee... I live in Reno, about 20 miles from the CA border, tops.

It really IS true that the state's like the central hub of anything furry;  Even Sac's proof of it!  Which makes my life a little happier, seeing as there's a very large group of furs a mere 2-hour drive away.

We've got a buncha furs here too, just starting to come out of the woodwork, it'd seem.  I think we have like 15-20 thus far, including the writer of Carpe Diem... and quite possibly Glenn in a few months, or so i've heard.

----

And trust me, unless you live in one of the LITERAL hick-states, I can name 3 cities right off the top of my head where it'd be tougher to find furs... and 1 of which I'm pretty sure I've seen a couple foxes somewhere list as their location.

Wait, the Author of Carpe Diem lives in Reno? (or around there?)

Damn, I didn't know he lived so close  Lost

Seriously, I thought he lived east-coast and all.

Wow, ya know, when I started this thread THREE YEARS AGO I never thought it would get so massively popular. I suppose it's just a lasting testament to my awesomeness.

And yes, I DO live in one of the "hick" states, sadly.  Cry
Not many furs around here.  I've given up on it.  Trying to find/convert furs I mean.  From where I live it's at least 25 miles to the nearest active fur.
Good luck, though.
