After reading the 'Good news for us furs' topic started by Arrowhead, I've come to realize that being a fur really is a lot more than just rp'ing your favorite animal in a fan site. For as long as I've heard of the term 'fur' I've only seen it as such, obviously this is not the case.

     People actually have conventions where they dress up as their favorite animal chara's and have rituals, or something to that effect, the whole nine yards. This is completely new to me. I mean, I've viewed it in a similar fashion in comparison to an Anime Expo, but I guess I just never gave much thought to the fact that this is actually how strongly people feel about this.

     Honestly I have no interest in becoming that dedicated to being a fur, and that may be right or that may be wrong. Either way, at least I've learned something.

P.S. Hey uh, side question, does every fur have to be homosexual, or does that just apply to the person him/herself? Just to make it known, I have no problems with anyone who is.

OooooOOOOOOOOooooh, ok I think I understand a little better. Well as far as I go, I just rp two werewolves in an rpg site that I'm in, and I've always loved werewolves. Okie, thanks for the clarification Darius! -huggles-

-grins- Heh, well I'm not the first person you'd come to when having a technical problem on your comp', let alone ask me what a thread is =D
but yeah, an rp here sounds great! I'd love to rp with some new people, sounds pretty cool. My only qualm with that is if someone uses magic, call me old fashioned but that always made the rp feel a little too unrealistic (as opposed to how unrealistic an rp is anyway ). Hope to get one started!

It doesn't have to be. It depends on the specific person.

It's neither right nor wrong, it's just a matter of preference. Some people will try to tell you that you "aren't a real fur" or something, but you don't have to listen to that. Nobody can tell you what furry means to you except for yourself.

Well yes it really is mostly open about what is and isn't furry, and that is the exact reason why even we don't know the true extent of the term furry. The last time someone tried to define the furry subculture it went to hell and seperated us even more. To me it simply means a place where I can be myself and talk with those who enjoy what I enjoy, anthro art, stories, and rp's.

And trust me, if you offend a burned fur, you WILL hear about it!

There are tons of different furs and I've seen quite a few kinds myself. I won't go into all of the different kinds, but whatever. Ok, me, for instance. I don't rp or do anything of the sort, I don't fursuit (nor do I intend to), I'm not gay (but that really has nothing to do with furry, though a lot of furries are, but it isn't defined by that in any way), I'm not really into the sexual aspects (which doesn't define furry, really, but plays a large role in it. Don't lie, we wouldn't have words for it if it wasn't. Still, it's not like it's a bad thing. Remember:Yiff is good), and I'm not really obsessive about it. I love dogs and other animals and I like cartoons. Those are the big reasons. I love dogs a lot, and long before I knew what furry was I developed a persona for use online. Now, for the past 3 years, I've been hanging around with furries and acting as a peacekeeper for the non-furries. As for cartoons, I liked Disney stuff a lot while I was younger such as those cartoons Rescue Rangers and Tailspin, so that played it's role as well. I hope that satisfied you... again. Well, just because they got here first doesn't mean I don't get my say, eh?

Time for a short history lesson.

The burned furs when they originally started was a group who acutally had some legitimate complaints about the fandom.  They didn't want stuff like the zoophilia group associating themselves with the fandom and they wanted to portray the fandom in a positive light to the public.  Sometime shortly afterwards the group went insane.  They started to demand for stuff that is not even close to reasonable and became a big flame group.  They  no longer had any real purpose other than to annoy everyone else.  Those who wern't insane quickly left the group.  A short time after that the group pretty much died.

During the time of the group another group was created in order to be the complete opposite of the burned furs.  Also many other groups were formed in response to the frozen furs.

Don't worry about saying bad stuff about the burned furs since the group technically no longer exists.  It has been that way for a few years.  The website is still up though I think maybe for historical purposes.
