Dreams have a great untold power in them. Though we live our lives in the waking world we spend a great deal of it in that other world of our dreams. When we close our eyes to sleep where do our souls go? Do we leave our bodies behind to visit other planes of existence?
On such vulpine was having quite the dream. He stood on the ground in front of old Lupine Hall as a battle raged above it. They were somehow familiar to the dreamer. Could this be the event twenty-one years ago, the last sighting of anyone of his own kind?
Angel stood on the grass watching the energies clash sending both of the combatants fly away from each other. His flicked his two snowy tails as he watched through his pure blue eyes as one of them was sent through the roof and into the building.
The combatants emerged again but one was burning with white flames around them their gigantic tails flowing behind them. The other seemed to be panicked and was fighting back in desperation until they were sent through the roof and the world was rocked by an explosion powerful enough to knock Angel over.
He awoke with a start panting quickly. This was the third night in a row he’s had that dream. Angel slowly got out of his bed and walked out of his dorm room and down the hall to the bathroom. It was late and most of the school was sleeping or cramming for an exam. Angel looked in a mirror above the sinks looking at his pure white fur. It was how he had gotten his name.
He was adopted though. His parents were a wonderful couple of foxes that took him in. He had never really asked about how they found him. He didn’t really care to either.
Angel turned on the sink splashing some water on his face with his paws. He looked back up at the mirror and saw himself looking back. He had a strange feeling like he was never who he was. He always expected a different face looking back at him. Angel shook his head slowly and looked over at the showers and shrugged putting his boxers aside and turned on the shower letting the warm water caress him gently.
He was in his third year here at the University and was doing fairly well. He had gotten himself a spot on the track team and was so close to his graduation he could almost hear the band playing the march. He let his paws caress his body getting the sweat out of his fur while letting the water touch him like a lover as it explored every inch of his body with it’s gentle caress.
He murred deeply, closing his eyes just letting the liquid cover him in its loving embrace. He felt his weariness taking him again and his eyelids becoming heavy. Angel frowned turning off the water and grabbed one of the towels wrapping it around him and picking up his discarded boxers.
He walked back to the mirror and wiped away the condensation on the cool glass looking at himself with a smirk, “Angel Mathews, bachelor of science.”
“Who are you talking to Angel?” Came a familiar voice behind him. He smiled and turned to see his best friend Derek behind him just standing there in all of his lupine might. Derek was a very large grey wolf. Most with a brain would think twice before ever even trying to take him down.
“No one Derek… just excited is all.” Said Angel with a smile. Derek walked up to look at his own reflection in the mirror with a smirk. “Derek Moonsinger. Bachelor of football.”
Angel and Derek laughed at his remark. Angel turned to leave and Derek was quick to follow with an arm over his friend’s shoulder as they headed back to their rooms.
