I noticed that nearly every furry forum I ever heard of is either begining to die or has already died. Whats going on? I know that people can only talk about a certain subject for so long untill it gets old but isn't this a community? Shouldn't there be things happening constantly? I just don't get it.

I'm really not sure why things are slowing down (we've been slow for a little while now). I'm not sure we ever really recovered from the events surrounding Darius's departure. I wish there was a way to get more activity, but I can't think of one. Unfortunately, I think we are down to maybe four people who still come here.

 Speaking for myself, RL has really been getting in the way of my 'Net time. First of all, I've been helping the 'rents rehabilitate an older home in one of our more upscale neighborhoods. They got a real good deal on it since the old guy who owned it let maintenance go. Secondly, I've been working on getting this audio amplifier project going. Hopefully, this will be my entree into the high end, boutique audio business.

Sorry, Sunoo, but I have to call Bullshit on this. Ancient-fucking-history. I was still a fandom n00b when that happened. That was almost two years ago, and KitsuNet was going good once that unpleasentness was put behind us.

There just hasn't been anything note-worthy going on within the fandom. Check out Flayrah, they're hurting for news to report. We've had these dry spells before, just wait it out.

How about I try doing some promotion on some of the other forums I visit? The first Furry forum I joined ain't goin' down without a fight if I can help it.

well, yes, Real Life is an issue one can't easily ignore  Screams at me right now for having been ignored for some time few years ago ( ancient history ^^ ). Plus, school's just gotten tougher than ever before ( with 8+ hours daily *sigh* ). Anyway... I've never been much of a thread starter, and I'm an enemy of creating useless junk like "what's your fav XY?". I guess it really is a matter of little time and even less to say. I'd say that's a thing You can't really force.

Heh, I just kinda fell outta the habit...and I fell outta the habit again It's one of those things. Recently I fell out of roleplaying pretty hard too, just dropped it like a sack of taters. I don't know, I'm changeing a lot I guess.

The thing with forums is that, if you don't keep doing new things with them, keeping them exciting, then they just start to stagnate and then eventually die completely. Forums are endless cycles of events, they always descend into chaos and then stagnation without the proper precautions.

You need rules that are actually enforced, you need dedicated staff teams, you need to make a forum specific to an aim, as opposed to trying to just cater for everyone on earth and, most of all, you have to keep the wheels turning.

It's something I found when administrating The Sonic Stadium Message Board, which has in excess of 2000 members. They would start to complain about the forum being boring; they would then say people are getting agressive because of the boredom. The staff would eventually get slagged off for punishing moaners, being labelled nazis for enforcing a set of rules each and every member agreed to follow upon joining the board. I just had to realise that all this was happening because chaos emerges where there is a vaccuum of authority and a vaccuum of activities to do. People don't know how to react to a system that has no apparent direction and no apparent rules; so instead they do their own thing, cause some shit for a while and then eventually leave when they get tired of the chaos.

That's why, at the forum, I've been setting up art contests, event weeks etc. Until the site got fucked over last night, that is, when a puny little hacker wank decided to attack the place. It's because of that place being down that I hunted for a furry forum again and found this place :F.
