I really want a fursuit. I e-mailed Lacy over the weekend, and it'll cost me $1250 for what I want, and she needs a 50% down payment ($625) before she starts. I'm still considering it, I have around $800 right now, and I'm trying to get a job on campus. Think I should do it?

So long as it doesn't impede on any of your other financial worries, go for it.

Well, I'm pretty lucky in that I was able to get my dad to cover my school expenses. So the money that I have, I can do whatever I feel like with. I really wanna get it, but its $1250.

Cool, I'd like to see the end result of the fursuit.

Looks like I have support. I'm gonna tell Lacy I wanna do it. I hope it comes out awesomely.

And from now on, I'm calculating all costs in terms of fursuits: 1 fursuit = 1250 USD.

It is alot, but I have decided to go through with it, which means time to get a job. I can definately get one at Gracie's (the cafeteria-thing) if nothing else works out, and than it should take roughly 5 weeks to cover the rest of the costs. And if anyone wants to see other things Lacy has done, look here: http://lacy.timduru.org/lacysfursuits.html .

But fursuits are so expensive. You can do a lot with body paint, you know. Razz

MEEEE TOOOO! I'm looking forward to a small windfall in the near future. Still considering One Fur All, or Lacy (leaning towards One Fur All). Going with a grey fox. I guess yours'll be an Arctic Fox?

Expensive indeed, but what is money if not for spending? Besides, people always spend truckloads of money on crap they don't need, so in comparison a fursuit is a sound investment. Personally, I want to commission one from Mixed Candy eventually. When I get the dough together.

Hi!  I'm new to the forum and thought I'd add my two cents worth here.

Firstly, I know Lacy pretty well, and she is a terrific suit builder!  Her stuff is worth what she charges for it.

And secondly...  yes, a fursuit is a huge expense, but from the fursuit builder's point of view, I can tell you that most of us get paid peanuts!  Just the fur alone for a suit can cost well over $200, and then you add in  claws, and pawpads, and eyes, and teeth, and all the various things that go into a head structure  and stuffind, and so on.  And then you consider that a full suit can take two weeks worth of full time, 8 hours a day, work.  The profit we make doesn't even pay most of us minimum wage.

When I first looked at fursuit prices I was shocked how much they are.  Now that I make them, I'm shocked that most furs don't charge more!

Hey, I've seen you around other places. Happy I think its definately worth the cost, unfortunately, I haven't been able to even make my first payment, other things suddenly got higher priority. (Mostly stuff related to getting KitsuNet up and running again). And unfortunately I don't have a job at the moment. I hope to get one soon and maybe have a suit for AC '07.

You know me?  Cool! I can't remember seeing you, I'm afraid.  And good luck with the site, and the suit, and everything.
