The early mornings turn me into a completely different snake @.@

Speaking of sword-fights, I heard that apparently, somewhere out in Arizona in the US, there is this little valley where, once a year (this upcoming feburary) there is a mass gathering of people who make their own chain-mail, wooden swords, and other armor and weapons. Each person goes to a team, with two teams and around 100 or so people per team. Someone drops a flag, and off they go!  Surprise

I might be getting a friend to take me out there, so I can view this. Maybe, if I enjoy watching it enough, the year after I will start making my stuff and join-in on the action! I'll call my friend again, and when I find out the name of this little event and get the website, I'll post it.

Hehe.... sounds quite like the german Drachenfest - Dragon Festival. We had one 2001, 2002, 2004 and the next will be somewhen in 2006. That was something about 2000++ people around there each time - the biggest german LARP-Con. ( Some fotos; for some reason, links don't work. You have to copy+paste them.

Dunno if I mentioned that I'm into those myself a bit - meaning, LARPS and all other forms of roleplay - it's great fun Happy Though up 'til now, I never had the money to get myself some real, serious equipment. Someday I will ^^. Probably gonna play some kind of a strider - a character class appealing most to me, bits of an assassin, thief, adventurer and even bard in there ^^ ( I really love singing Larp-songs. They're always swell; either funny as hell or beautiful up to the point of tears flowing; I don't really have a great voice or anything, but I'm not that bad, either. )

Hey Sylvine, you wouldn't happen to hang out Here (URL) would you? ExtremeTech has had a "topicless thread" for nearly four years now. Sort of an ET tradition.

So now we have our own "THread About Absolutely Nothing"

What's the big deal here?   :Wide Smile:

Nah, I never heard of that site or that user. Actually, Arrowhead explained it quite well - I miss such a topic in most forums, so I created one here. To be precise, one that is free-for-all-topics, where going off-topic is a virtue, not a shame Happy because sometimes, You just think about something while responding to a post in a specific thread, and it's sooo totally off-topic, but You'd like to post that anyway... and then there are people who'd like to respond to that off-topic-remark, know they shouldn't because it's spam, but do it anyway, 'cause they really really want to...  so this thread is kind of for those people. It's not that much a topicless thread, more like a thread for all topics - especially for those meaningless little ones that don't fit anywhere.
( side note: Up till now, it seems to be more like a thread for Arrowhead and myself, but I'm sure more active members would solve the problem Happy)

w007! I am stoked! Went to a witch meetup this evening, and it just so happened to be, literally, in the same shopping center that I usually hang out at! I like pleasant coincidences!  Smile

And to all those who will not get a chance to be on till afterwards, Merry New Year!

Lost really? I couldn't tell Happy

Ahhh, the con was faaaaaaantastic! Though one of my best net friends was not able to attend  Cry , oh well. After Cave - lots and lots of good music, tasty wine and friendly people Happy - wewent promptly to the con, arriving about 3:oo am. Snow covered highways arefun ( not really =/ ). Well, those few days contained lots of talking about roleplay ( I recruited 2 new players for my play, meaning two new furs ^^ ), snowball-fights, making snow statues( I'll open a thread in the art section for  photos ), hugging, drikning a bit, listening to music and going omgwhatacutelittlefella at the little kitten Real Happy. Fun times, really. Lyz had some serious, pro fireworks with her - they looked really amazing  Surprise. Terrorising the local market in medieval clothes was fun, too  Real Happy. Overall, I had a great time  Happy

Atm, I'm in Bonn, staying with my mate *luv*, so I won't have much time to post here. But I really wanted to post those photos; I'll do so in a minute Happy

hope You all had a good time celebrating the new year ^^

I'm gonna go paintballing sunday! W007!

Also, going back to school at the moment, got my deutsch class in a few hours. Went to Intro to Ethics just yesterday, so far I'm liking how it forces you to have an opinion, however I am a little upset that only a few people out of a large class decided to say anything at all, and I happened to be the only one who is confident in his own opinions. Sickens me how we practically need to teach peeps how to have an opinion where I live  Sigh

Not only where You live, I guess. That's our society pumped up with mass media drugs, happens in every land where people can afford a TV ( and I'll end this statement here before I start flaming the current american way of life ^^' ) . It's the same in my Ethics class, too. Three or four people have enough brains and guts to engage in an intelligent, yet provocative discussion, the others sit there and don't say anything at all ( and probably don't even listen). Well, ok, it's school, so they're probably just bored. But hearing "I agree to what xy said" for the 235th time sometimes gets on my nerves. Especially if I know that the person had no clue what xy was even talking about. oh well.

That being said, I skipped school today *duck* Yeah, I know, bad Sylv, yeah, right.. but I don't really have a guilty conscience. Out of the five subjects I'd have today, two of them I'l omit in next class ( no space in my schedule for latin anymore and I can't get used to informatics ),  the other two ( english and ethics ) are 14-15 p. for me, anyway; with that high ranking, I can afford it ^^ , and the Art class... well, ok, I shouldn't have skipped that one. But I can attend to it tomorrow, I guess; my art teacher's got a second art class tomorrow when school would be out for me. So it's kinda ok. I hope.

...ok, maybe I am feeling a bit guilty after all  Sigh oh well, won't take long ^^

Good news and bad news... Bad news is, when I went to the paintball park, my friends decided not to show up. ouch.

Good news: Despite the fact my friends didn't show up, I grouped up with three other guys who were nice enough to let me use their paint (only went through a total of 3 hoppers), played a good 4-5 sessions, two games each, found out the the paintball community is EXTREMELY age-eclectic (played on the same team as a guy in his late 60's and a kid who looked about 8 or 10), found out that the paintball community is also extremely friendly, and I feel as though that was the best $40 I had ever spent in my life.

Throw a paintball at 'em. Fluorescent pink. Water-proof. They deserved it.  Evil

good to hear that it turned out great, anyways. I only participated in a paintball match once, as far as I can recall... and that was, oh, 5 years ago? In the polish woods, with old army clothes my pal got himself from somewhere, those strange masks You put on when You're ... damn, I don't know the word. Fusing two metal pieces together using a mini-flamethrower?  Real Happy I hope You get the Idea. And borrowed paintball guns. Those things can really hurt, hehe. Was fun, though, for the rogue-ish-ness of it. I'd gladly try it out some time again, with proper equipment and things....

My pc is broken. Again. I hate it. I'm sitting at the pc of my bro at the moment, and he urges me to get the hell out of his room. Oh well, I can kind of understand him... I hope I get that thing to work soon.- Still have that avatar to finish ( Mahtowin's gonna kill me *duck* )

1) fusing two pieces of metal together is called welding.

2) I found out that it doesn't hurt unless you have the psi too high. Regulation standards say the highest you can have is 300psi, yet I find anywhere from 230~260psi is more than enough. That way the most pain you feel is the equivilent to having your ear flicked.

Well, now that I have done paintballing, I wanna do more! Maybe a once-a-month deal, but I gotta get my own gun and mask (reducing the payment to just the paint and registration). I'm thinking of getting a cheap but reliable pump, since I don't fire as much as others anyway. Maybe even a pod pack just in case I do run out during play.

Interesting night last night. Went with my friend Deg, a fellow fur, out to Jack-in-the-Crack last night, and although I have gained much respect for tech support through Vinci and Arty, I find myself loosing almost all respect for cutomers by listening to my friend Deg's stories about the various customers he dealt with and the interesting ways he had dealt with them.

The one that stands out in my mind the most is the one poor asshole who the people in Deg's office decided to play the "hold game" on. Basically, someone gets a call, puts it on hold, and sends it to you saying that you should put the call on hold. You have five minutes afterwards to transfer that call to someone else to do the same thing.

So, apparently this one guy called the previous night was was a total douche-bag. So everybody started to play the game with him... normally it only lasts a good twenty-minutes to half an hour. They had this poor, unfortunate soul on hold for THREE HOURS! Yep, he never hung up, and was kept on hold for three hours and forty minutes, passed from station to station to station like a sadistic game of hot-potatoe. Finally it was Degs turn, and he missed the five-minute mark by accident. When he picked up the phone all the guy did was SCREAM at him! No words, just one big "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!" and despite the fact that Deg tried to help, the guy just wouldn't stop screaming... so he hung up on the guy and blocked his number.

sorry, I messed up several times trying to type this out cause I'm laughing still  Real Happy Real Happy Real Happy Real Happy Real Happy

I don't know about you guys, but I would have hung up after the first thirty minutes. Normally I would feel bad for the guy, but if you were a douche to a techy and actually waited 3 hours for them to obviously fuck around with you, I loose all sympathy.

o.O.... all I have to say is: Omifukingod!  Real Happy Real Happy I'd prolly hang up after ten minutes at most o.O *not very patient*... I can actually understand the guy screaming Happy

hmh... I'm in a severe creativity crisis lately. You can tell by my posts, heh. Tho it's my Artwork I'm actually talking about. Didn't manage to do an acceptable piece for more than a month now, 'side from maybe that Ava for Mahtowin ( that I still have to finish ). I'm kinda... deeply frustrated about that.  Strain
someone make that block thing go awayyyy~...

oh well, it'll be better, eventually.

g'night *off to bed*

Good news/bad news:

good news: I got an apartment with a couple of friends, and I have applied for better paying jobs than tossing pizza!

bad news: I got fired from my job tossing pizzas and me ma flipped out when she heard I got fired and got an apartment.

Saving grace: I had already started looking for jobs and I have a cash cushion of $1000 plus the first months rent is already paid.
